MEmberships
the membership program
Let's clear this up first, because we get asked every day: anyone can book and play at Matchbox, member or not. Always. Membership isn't a gate — it's just the better deal for the people who end up here every week.

The daytime maths
If you can play in the day, the off-peak memberships are the best value in the building. £45 a month for unlimited weekday play — versus paying by the hour every time. Play once a week and you're already ahead. Work flexibly, retired, or just fancy a quiet midday game? This one's for you.

Belonging, not discounts.
Membership at Matchbox is really about being part of the place — priority on the sessions that sell out, first to hear about leagues and events, and the feeling of walking in somewhere that knows your name. The discounts are nice. The belonging's the point.
Frequently asked Questions
Do I need a membership to play at Matchbox?
No. Anyone can book and play, any time. Membership just makes it cheaper and comes with perks — early booking, discounts, and priority on sessions that sell out. It's a reward for regulars, not a gate.
Which membership is right for me?
Rough rule of thumb: if you play once a week or so, an off-peak membership in your sport pays for itself fast. If you're in most days across different sports, All Sports is your one. If you can only ever play daytime, off-peak is unbeatable value. Still unsure? Message us on WhatsApp or call — we'll talk you through it properly.
What's the difference between Starter and the full memberships?
Starter (£10/mo) is the easy way in: free racket rental for yourself every visit, 10% off your chosen sport, and 10% off drinks. It's perfect if you're just getting going. The off-peak and All Sports memberships are about unlimited play — proper value once you're playing regularly.
Can I cancel my membership any time?
Memberships are rolling monthly with 30 days' notice — no long lock-in. Give notice through the member portal or by email and you'll stay active through the notice period.
Is there a contract?
Just the standard membership agreement you accept when you sign up. Rolling monthly, cancel with 30 days' notice.
Can I freeze or pause my membership?
Normally memberships run continuously, but we know life happens — so we can pause in genuine extenuating circumstances (injury, that kind of thing) at our discretion. Have a chat with us and we'll sort something fair.
How do guest passes work?
Some memberships come with guest passes (Founders get 3 a month, for example), and they reset monthly. When you're adding people to a booking in the app, you'll see a "use guest pass" option — tick it and your guest's covered.
